Dr Dean Creer is a consultant respiratory physician who works both in the NHS and privately. He is based at the world famous Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Dean has over 15 years of experience in respiratory medicine and studied at the University of Cape Town Medical School, graduating in 1991. He undertook his specialist medical training in London including the Royal Free Hospital, the London Chest and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Dr Creer is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a membership examiner for the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Creer has a broad range of respiratory expertise which includes: assessment of common respiratory symptoms like cough, breathlessness and wheeze; investigation of possible early lung cancers; and managing common conditions such as chest infections, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Creer has a specialist interest in: pulmonary infections, including TB; early lung cancer diagnosis; and lung cancer risk assessment. Dr Creer also performs diagnostic bronchoscopy, a procedure allowing the visual assessment of the breathing tubes and has performed in excess of 1500 bronchoscopies.
Dr Creer clinical skills include the ability to perform oximetry (oxygen levels), peak flow, spirometry, allergy skin tests and he can initiate overnight oximetry. Further investigations such as lung function tests, chest imaging (xray and CT) and diagnostic bronchoscopy can all be arranged at short notice in an outpatient setting.
